kontrastmoment is a multicultural, interdisciplinary design studio focused on Digital Experience Design — spanning Interface Design and Experience Design. Founded in Munich in 2002, the studio has spent more than two decades developing, designing, and realizing complex human–machine interfaces across research, pre-development, and series development.
Interface Design — Pathfinders of clarity
Interfaces live between human intent and technological systems. kontrastmoment works in that in-between space: translating complexity into interaction that feels clear, reliable, and precise. The work moves across disciplines — from computer science and technology to product design, ergonomics, communication, culture, and psychology — to connect a human world with a technical one.
This approach is built on depth across the full chain: from the first idea, through the entire process, into series support and continuous evolution. The ambition is not only to design “screens”, but to shape the logic, language, and behavior that make systems understandable and usable.
Experience Design — Storytellers of meaning
As technology becomes more pervasive, understanding often gives way to assumption — and complexity can start to feel like magic. Experience Design creates the narrative structure that helps people orient themselves: a world in which information is readable, interfaces become operable, and the overall experience feels coherent. Listening, asking the right questions, and truly understanding the context come first — because every strong experience starts with a real story.
Our work spans UI/UX and Interface Design, design systems and production-ready UI kits, and highly customized assets — from typography, fonts, and iconography to motion design and micro-interactions. Depending on the challenge, this extends into 2D/3D visualizations, realtime content, digital twins, and immersive formats such as VR/AR experiences. Consulting, project management, and strategic facilitation ensure that design decisions remain aligned with technical reality, timelines, and product goals.
End-to-end delivery — from R&D to implementation
kontrastmoment works across the entire value chain: R&D and exploration, strategy and concept, design and prototyping, testing and validation, and production-ready delivery — including integration support, handover-ready assets, and long-term refinement in live environments. The goal is continuity: one line of thought, carried through every phase with the same level of craft.
